Goats in the paddock at sunset on Legacy Farm

Legacy Farm LLC

A living inheritance

Dexter cows. Nigerian goats. A flock of chickens. A garden that feeds the table. A small heritage farm in Williamsburg, Virginia, kept with a long view.

The farm

Small enough to know every animal by name.

Legacy Farm is not a showplace and not a factory. It is a working homestead: pasture, paddock, coop, and kitchen beds. We raise heritage livestock that fit the land, and we grow food the way soil prefers — slowly, in season, with our hands in it.

One of our Dexters is registered. That paper is a promise: that the genetics we tend today can be handed forward, intact.

Heritage dual-purpose

A compact Irish dual-purpose breed — hardy, thrifty, and perfectly scaled for a small farm.

Dairy companions

Small, personable dairy goats — curious, gentle, and generous with rich milk.

Pasture Chickens

The flock

Pasture Chickens

A working flock

Heritage birds on orchard grass — eggs, pest control, and a farm that sounds like a farm.

Kitchen garden beds at dusk on Legacy Farm

The garden

Beds that earn their keep.

Tomatoes, greens, herbs, beans, roots. We grow what the kitchen asks for and what the season allows. The flock works the edges. Compost returns what we take. Nothing here is ornamental for long.

Walk the beds

“The work of a farm is not only this year’s harvest. It is the soil, the bloodlines, and the habits we leave behind.”
